Nuestros grandes amigos, at the County Board of Education, have stuck it to us again. They ran, for a whole week from Sunday 13 to the 8th of Sept., a television program on ITV, their Instructional Television station, paid with our pesos, a program titled "The Heart of San Diego." It was a series of interviews with so-call community leaders who have shaped the history of San Diego. Raza will be happy to know that not a single Chicano was included in the advertised list of the so-call leaders Does this mean the County Board of Education and the Superintendent, whose nominal heads are two bilingual, bi-pedal, Latino/Pocho leaders, couldn't find a single RAZA that has shaped the history of San Diego???
Orale gente, ask your Assembly and Senate persons, one more time, why are they giving the educational system more money!!
PssssssT señores Jessie Albritten, Father del Priore, and Mark Baca. You're going to do what in Sherman Heights??? Was this `Manifesto' shown to the `Law and Order types? You know, the boys in blue with big guns and badges??? How about the ACLU??? Better think it over. Best you get on your local POLITICOS TO TAKE POLITICAL ACTION BEFORE SOMEONE GETS HURT. Politics got those guys there. Politics has to get them out.
Hijole, when are our Black Bro.'s coming out of the fields and stand up for what is right and good for us people of color? The URBAN LEAGUE'S endorsement of PROP C, "the let us take all the people's money from the city and build a play pen for the ball players" proposal is not to cool! The so-call 17,000 jobs they are going to create are pie in the sky. Those that are created, in the main, will be for "peanut & hot dog vendors," "toilet cleaners," janitors, all minimum wage jobs for which us people of color will have to compete for with thousands of green-card workers. Que pendejada... Don't ask for help, my man, when your Grant money is cut by the City Fathers in order to pay for the ballpark.
La regué... Jumped the gun on reporting that Carlos Arauiza had been pushed out from his job at the County. Fact is my deep throats read it wrong. Sorry Carlos most of the time, we got it right this time... we got it wrong. Fact is, CAO just gave him a raise.
Peter Navarro, former candidate for various offices just came out with his proof copy of San Diego Confidential: A Candidate's ODYSSEY. Will give you my take on it soon as I finish reading it. (Yep, will read it through my Indio-brown eyes).
Been receiving smoke signals from a blood brother El Chicano-Cheyenne. Fear we don't understand it very well the significado de Columbus upon nuestra gente. Keep in touch.
