Bond Issue Will Enrich Bursin's Friends

Regarding Bursin's illegal use of school district funds to convince San Diego to vote for his school bond. Today, A. Bersin was sued by concerned citizens who believe that he should reimburse the school district for his illegal use of school funds to mail out the letter and asking us to vote for his school bond.

It seems to me that the terms of this bond will enrich Mr. Bersin's friends at the expense of San Diego citizens. I urge all voters to reject this bond proposal and seek a bond issue that is economically fair to the average taxpayer and fixes our schools.

(Comment; There are many questionable aspects of this bond issue that the voters must become aware. Once you have been around the block once or twice, you know that every bond issue is hyped as being for the "kids" and ends up to the contrary. Bersin pushed the envelope on posting signs on school property and sending letters to the voters. Of course that means over 1.5 million dollars was taken out of the monies we provided to educate our kids!)

IN THE SPIRIT OF FAIR JOURNALSIM

Your editorial (Rush to Judgement/ La Prensa San Diego 9/18/98) begs another question: And what if all of this is true when the facts are in? And not a "conspiracy" by the "fanatical" right? What then, Mr. Editor, will you also call the same for Mr. Clinton? In the spirit, of course, of fair journalism.

(You miss the thrust of the editorial. I am complaining over the process: the kangaroo court used by Kenneth Starr, the lack of due process, the judgement, by the radical Republicans in Congress, of guilt by the President on allegations created by Starr and his hired guns. Etc. etc. etc... This is a conspiracy by "Radical elements who are in control of the Republican Party who can't see or don't want to see THE DAMMAGE THAT THEY'RE DOING TO THEIR COUNTRY and their Party.)

`Starr Gate' Most Diabolical and Despicable Act of Congress

Now, we are aware of just what the Republican leadership believes is important and what they think is in the best interest of this country and the American people.

As predicted, every explicit and lurid detail of the X -RATED STARR GATE REPORT has been released to become the most diabolical and despicable act of congressional legislation that has been or ever will be recorded in the annuals of American political history.

They have by publishing this expose on the Internet and the media's constant drum beat raised it to a point of torture for the first family…

I hope the Presidents religious beliefs what ever they may be are at least forgiving.

Perhaps, if nothing else this can give him strength and endurance to weather the storm so he can deal with the critical issues that faces our country and the world. . .

Escondido Residents Denied Right to Vote on School Issue

On Oct. 2, 1998 the U.S. Justice Foundation filed a lawsuit against the California State Board of Education alleging loss of the right to vote of residents of Escondido. The suite is based on the constitutional right to a vote when we are taxed. In this case, affected residents will pay an estimated $60 million on a school that their kids can't attend and that we won't control through our elected officials... Eighty four percent of the students that live in Escondido are Hispanic. Their parents are being denied the right to vote.

(Name withheld on request)

(La Prensa will carry the lawsuit once it is filed on Oct. 2, 1998. It is of particular interest to La Prensa as there are 30,311 Hispanic resident that live within the impacted areas.)
