I have been enjoying your web site very much. My favorite article is that of Lyn Sherwood's reviews on bullfighting. I have known Lyn since the Los Muleteros days back in the 70's. In the past we could obtain information about upcoming bullfights in the "other newspaper" but it has been several years now that they have discontinued advertising it.
While I enjoy reading about the bullfights in Lyn Sherwood's column, his info on upcoming fights are reported in La Prensa's web site the day before the fight which doesn't give us much time to plan if we want to go and see one.
Can you advise me as to where to obtain info (matadores, bull ranches) upcoming bullfights in Tijuana at least a week before the event.

(Bullring empresarios need to advertise their schedules otherwise they are not carried. We will on-line your letter to Lyn perhaps he can help on the other matter.)
From Another Bullfight Aficionado
I have been a reader of La Prensa for more than 20 years. Mostly with a great deal of enjoyment. I always enjoy the historical editions that enlighten me as to the history of the Mexican people. I have loved them all my life.
I also enjoy and get a good laugh out of the bigoted, racist, infantile, whining, sniveling writings of the publisher, Daniel L. Muñoz.
However, I do avoid, with disgust the depraved section promoting cruelty to non-human animals exemplified by your Bullfight World. It is telling that the publisher, who's always looking for sympathy-poor me attitude, has none for the bull.

(Well, we have you reading, learning, enjoying, laughing and being disgusted. Looks like we are doing our job).
Something is Wrong with some of our Raza
La Prensa in its' Sept. 11 edition carried an advertisement for our people to attend a dance at the Eagles Hall (FRATERNAL ORDER OF EAGLES #244) in San Diego. This country's history is filled with names of Mexicans/Chicanos who through their perseverance and faith fought for our dignity, honor and Civil Rights.
The Eagles did not want Mexicans or Chicanos at their hall. There was a discrimination suit filed against them for racism by Mexican members of their Board of Directors. Having events or attending anything at the Eagles is telling the Anglo community and others that anyone can violate our rights, degrade, disrespect, and attack our culture and get away with it.
By allowing someone to discriminate against you and return and support them is ludicrous and shows you have no respect or honor for yourself and your Raza.

Father Joe Carroll has it wrong on the Proposed ballpark
Fr. Carroll's support for the ballpark may mystify some, but look at it from his viewpoint. It will provide income for his homeless people but not jobs! The number one source of income for the homeless, not counting welfare, is begging. If the ballpark proposition passes, 30,000 fans, families, kids, tourists, will be coming downtown 80 days a year to walk past groups of aggressive beggars and panhandlers twice a game!
This is part of the ball part experience not mentioned in the PADRES advertising blitz.

Padres' Owner is a good Democrat
Padre owner John Moores is probably the most generous donor in San Diego to the Democratic Party and its candidates. The Central Committee just voted to support his $400 million baseball-only ballpark subsidy from the taxpayers. Surprised???
