Villaseñor to Speak at City College

Highly acclaimed author Victor Villaseñor will speak at San Diego City College on Sept. 22, 11 a.m.-12 noon, in the campus theatre, 1450 C Street between 14th and 15th in downtown San Diego.

A popular motivational speaker, Villaseñor will share about his inspiring life and writing career, his intense pride in his Mexican heritage, as well as his life-long struggle with dyslexia, difficulty in learning to read.

His publishing successes include national best seller, Rain of Gold series and sequel Wild Steps of Heaven which trace his family's migration to California during the Mexican Revolution. ABC Television has secured the rights to air a miniseries based on Rain of Gold.

Raised by Mexican parents on a ranch in Oceanside, he faced years of racism, language barriers and other obstacles during his youth. His well-known work includes the non-fiction, Jury: The People vs. Juan Corona, and screenplay, Ballad of Gregorio Cortez.

Following his talk will be a book signing. The program is free and open to the public; guests may park in lots next to the theater. No permit is needed.
