SeaWorld San Diego marks this year's Mexican Independence Day with the adventure park's ninth annual "Fiestas Patrias" celebration. Festivities include special appearances by Televisa television soap opera celebrities during the weekend event Saturday, Sept. 12 and Sunday, Sept. 13.
This year's highlight involves an interactive question-and-answer session between famous Televisa celebrities and the public at the park's Bird Showplace. These twice daily sessions will be taped for later broadcast on XEWT Channel 12. Between shows, fans may meet and pose for photos with their favorite stars and attend an autograph session at the park's Plaza Del Sol.
SeaWorld will add an Hispanic flavor to the park with two days of singing, dancing and decorations celebrating the region's rich Latino heritage. "Mariachi Aleger," a band of child performers between 6 and 15 years old and "Ballet Folklorico Tapatio", a dance troupe, will perform throughout the weekend at SeaWorld's entrance plaza bandstand.
Guests also will want to visit Plaza Del Sol, a special exhibit dedicated to Latino culture. Individuals of all ages and ethnic backgrounds will enjoy the Plaza's interactive stations, multi-colored design, and eight large portrait columns honoring Latino individuals who have made unique contributions in specific fields.
Two-for-one admittance discounts are available at all San Diego metro-area Radio Shack retailers and other select Spring PCS retailers. For more information, call (619) 226-3901.
