Roundup......

LOCAL:

Congressman Brian Bilbray was taken to task by labor activists for voting to squander the Federal Budget's surplus on a $792 billion tax cut for the wealthy while doing little or nothing for MEDICARE, SOCIAL SECURITY and EDUCATION. 70% of the proposed cut goes to the wealthiest 10 percent of the taxpayers," said Allen Shur, Business Manager IBEW Local 569 AFL-CIO.

The Judge said "Teachers do not have a First Amendment right to be free of regulations which tells them to follow a method of instruction or a curriculum." CTA may appeal the ruling.

Congresswoman Loretta Sanchez (D) in hot water over endorsing State Senator Hilda Solis (D) who is challenging veteran incumbent Marty Matinez (D) for his seat in the U. S. Congress. It is being viewed as not the best of moves from Sanchez. With so many non-Hispanic office holder why support an Hispanic to run against another Hispanic? This may signal problems for Sanchez when she runs for reelection.
