Familarity Breeds Contempt as Flash Face El Paso in 1st Round

The Back-to-Back Pacific Division champion San Diego Flash begins its quest for the 1999 A-League championship Friday against the 8th-seeded El Paso Patriots at Mesa College.

San Diego and El Paso met six times during the regular season, with the Flash winning five of the six contests. The games were close, competitive and very physical. "We have plenty of information on El Paso, since we have played them so frequently and with our new computer system (Futbol 2000) we can prepare for their tendencies. We expect another tough and physical match," stated Flash coach Papo Santos. The teams have combined for 47 cautions and eight ejections.

San Diego Flash playoff tickets are on sale now at the Flash Soccer House, Ticket-Master or by phone at 858-581-2120. Tickets for the First Round match on September 10 against El Paso and Round 2 (Conference Semi-Finals) and 3 (Conference Championship Series) are priced at $10 for adult and $6 for children 16 and under. Ticket prices for the post-season remain at the regular season cost, which includes free parking at San Diego Mesa College's Douglas Stadium.
