Cross Country Poised To Repeat As Conference Champs

Women’s Team Won It Last Year, Men Could Follow This Year

CHULA VISTA – The Southwestern College cross country teams is ready to add more hardware to their collection at the Pacific Coast Conference championships (at a date to be determined).

SWC women’s team enters the tournament the defending PCC champions. Led by sophomores Rose Serna and Yvonne Li, the Jags are once again favorites to repeat.

Both have finished in the top 10 four times this season. Serna has not finished lower then third place, including a first place finish at the Palo-mar Invitational where she broke her own course record.

The men’s team, with Yafet Abraha and Oswaldo Alvarez, is poised to bring their first PCC title to SWC.

Abraha and Alvarez both have recorded the fastest time in the PCC so far this season. Both ran a 21:08 4.0 mile course in the Golden West Invitational last month.
