PROP A:

Proposes to change the positions of Auditor and Controller and his or her principal assistants from being a Civil Service System positions to non-Civil Service positions.

City of San Diego

PROP E:

"The city may not enter into the agreements necessary for financing, developing, and construction of a major public project that confers a significant private benefit, unless that project is submitted to a vote, at a municipal election and a majority of those voting in that election approve the project!"

La Prensa recommends a YES vote.

It is a vote in the right direction.

 

PROP F:

Should the City Charter be amended to permit the award of public works contracts to the same entity which furnishes both design and construction services?

La Prensa San Diego opposes PROP F as being unfair, anti-minority and anti small and medium size businesses of San Diego.

 

PROPOSITION G:

Shall public works contracts be awarded on a unit cost basis?

PROPOSITION H:

Shall surety bonds for Public Work contracts be required on contracts exceeding $100,000 instead of those that exceed $25,000?

Shall the city establish a bond reimbursement program to reimburse contractors for all or portion of the premium paid for surety bonds required by the city?

Will open up 1,410 acres of land in the North County to the developers who want to build 1,500 new homes on the land.

PROPOSITION N:

Would exchange 30.0 acres of pueblo lands located in the University City area, west of I-805 and north of Noble Drive for 47.7 acres of land in the San Dieguito area. The area would be used to build manufacturing, research centers, and other associated High-tech infrastructure.

Proposed Bond Proposition for the San Diego Unified School District to improve classroom health, safety, and instruction at a cost of $1,510 billion.

California State Initiatives

 

Prop 1A:

Class Size Reduction Kindergarten-University Public Education Facilities Bond Act of 1998, to the tune of $9,200,000,000

NO VOTE ON PROP 1A

 

PROPOSITION 1:

Prop 13 which was a Constitutional Amendment now forces the citizens to amendment the Constitution in order to adjust the property tax. Prop 1 will allow property owners to clean up contaminated property or buildings without triggering a property tax increase.

Legislative Constitutional Amendment on the use of gasoline taxes, motor vehicle, Taxes, and funds in the Public Transportation Fund, by the General Fund.

Will allow partisan Presidential Primary Elections

Anti-Game Animal Trapping Initiative. This is one of those Initiatives similar to the "Tree Hugging" ones that are frequently put on the ballot by the "forest lovers."

Tribal-State Gaming Compacts & Casinos.

The Board of Directors of La Prensa cannot in good conscious SUPPORT PROP 5 and ask our readers to:

Would prohibit slaughter of horses, sale of horsemeat.
