GUITARIST RODRIGO RODRIGUEZ AT SOUTHWESTERN COLLEGE

World-renowned guitarist and guitar teacher, Rodrigo Rodriguez will perform a special concert on Friday, October 30, at 7:30 p.m. at Southwestern College's Mayan Hall.

Tickets are on sale at the Mayan Hall box office, Monday through Friday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Ticket prices are $7 general admission, $5 for students and seniors (with valid I.D.), and $3 for groups of 20 and more. For more information call Pat Tracey at 482-6404.

 

Eric RunningPath Dances

Internationally known for his talents, a Native American dancer will perform in the Community Rooms of the Oceanside Public Library on Saturday, October 31, at 11 a.m. Please note, this year's performance will be at the Civic Center complex.

FLETCHER HILLS LIBRARY SPOTLIGHTS NATIVE AMERICAN CULTURE

In celebration of Native American Heritage Month, the Fletcher Hills Branch of the San Diego County Library, 576 Garfield Avenue, El Cajon, announces three special programs in November for preschoolers, ages 3-5.

Thursday, November 5 at 10:30 a.m. Indian and Canoe Craft Program.

Thursday, November 12 at 10:30 a.m. Make Thanksgiving placemats for your holiday table.

Thursday, November 10 at 10:30 a.m. Thanksgiving stories.

AUTHOR AND ILLUSTRATOR SIMON SILVA

Born in Mexicali, Mexico, Simón Silva lives in San Bernardino, California with his wife and their two children. He finds it very important to inspire other kids by sharing his art and his personal experiences. Silva will present and sign copies of his work. An Extensive collection of his art work will be on display and may be purchased in advance.

LATIN AMERICA'S MUSIC AMBASSADORS INTI-ILLIMANI

The Latin American ensemble Inti-Illimani, whose music is described by the Los Angeles Times "as a feast for both the brain and the soul" - will perform at 8 p.m. Nov. 7 in Mandeville Auditorium at the University of California, San Diego.

The eight musicians play more than 30 instruments, including ancient Andean wooden flutes and pipes and an array of guitars, saxophones, clarinets, mandolins and percussion. Their music stretches from the ancient pre-Columbian Mayan culture of the Andes to modern jazz and contemporary European chamber music.

Tickets are $17 for general admission, $15 for faculty, staff and senior citizens, and $12 for students. Tickets are available at the UCSD Box Office, 534-8497

 

LATE NIGHT JAZZ JAM

Hollis and the Culy Trucking Warehouse No. 7 present the "Late Night Jazz Jam" every Friday in the East Village at the Culy Trucking Building. Starting November 6, the weekly performance series will feature local trumpeter Gilbert Castellanos and his Hammond B-3 Quartet.

The gig starts at the stroke of midnight and goes until 3 a.m. A requested donation of $5 at the door is appreciated. Refreshments will be available with plenty of free parking on the adjoining streets. For more information please call John Chilson at 234-2061.

 

THE ROMANCE OF GYPSY MUSIC

Musical settings of works by the great Spanish poet Carlos Garcia Lorca are featured in concert at Palomar College on November 7 at 8 p.m. The Romance of Gypsy Music concert is presented by the Palomar College Performing Arts Department in the Howard Brubeck Theatre at 1140 West Mission Road in San Marcos. REUNION OF THE BAND MEMBERS

Los Gallos of San Diego is sponsoring the reunion of the 1950's San Diego band members, who played rhythm and blues for youth social clubs of the era, featuring Rhythmairs, Velvetones, Gaynighters, Kingsmen, Barons and Houserockers. These band members went on to become professional musicians locally, nationally and internationally, while other club participants became responsible community leaders in San Diego and other areas.

Buffet dinner and dance will be given by Los Gallos of San Diego, on Sat. Nov. 7 at 6-8 p.m. Dance will follow from 8 - midnight. Ticket prices are $15 and includes buffet and dance or $10 for dance only at Chuey's Restaurant, located at 1894 Main Street, Logan Heights.
