SPECIAL EVENT HONORING VETERANS DAY
On Wednesday, November 4, at 12:30 p.m. at the Escondido Joslyn Center, 210 Park Avenue, we will have a special showing of a documentary movie, "A Healing" which was filmed and produced by Connie Stevens, the actress and director, in memory of and as a tribute to the women who served in Vietnam.

ESSENCE OF EBONY
EOE International presents the 5th Annual Holiday Extravaganza, Saturday, November 7, 1998, 10:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. at the Doubletree Hotel in Mission Valley. The Holiday Extravaganza is a multicultural forum for retail business owners, artists, crafters and others with unique gift items, to network and present their quality items to the public for early holiday shopping in a communal, marketplace venue.

DEL SOL / OTAY MESA RESIDENTS CELEBRATE COMMUNITY UNITY
Residents of the Del Sol / Otay Mesa Community will celebrate the strength and unity of their neighborhood at an old-fashioned Community Block Party on Saturday, November 7th, at Silverwing Recreation Center on 3737 Arey Drive from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. The event is free to the public, and families are invited to come join the fun. If families bring a canned food item or toy, Block Party organizers will deliver them to the Holiday Food Drive and Toys for Tots.

FALL FESTIVAL AT MARKET CREEK PLAZA
A safe, diverse, family-oriented fall festival is planned for the neighborhoods of southeastern San Diego on Friday and Saturday, Oct. 30 and 31. The event will take place at the abandoned Langley factory, 310 Market Street, the future home of the Market Creek Plaza being developed by the Jacobs Center for NonProfit Innovation.
A carnival, dance, concert and haunted house will be held for residents of the "Diamond Neighborhoods." Festivities includes fames, food and face painting. The haunted house operates from 4 to 9 p.m. For more information, contact Todd Gottlieg at 469-3500.
DRUG AWARENESS AT USD
Rock and Roll Hall of Famer David Crosby will be the keynote speaker for USD's Alcohol and Drug Awareness Week observance on Monday, November 2, 7:00 p.m., in the Hahn University Center. This event is free and open to the public.
"GET OUT TO VOTE" TARDEADA
El Centro Comunitario de las Artes / Chicano Park Community Arts Center invites the San Diego Community for its "Get Out to Vote" celebration on Sunday, November 1st from noon to 5 p.m.
It's an afternoon of music, art, culture, and awareness at the Paradise Senior's Center, located at 1880 Logan Avenue at the corner of Crosby St.
CHICANO AND CHICANA EXPERIENCES OF THE WAR
Presented by Spruce St. Forum, Aztlan and Viet Nam: "Experiences of the War", on Wednesday, November 11 at 7 p.m. at Spruce St. Forum, located at 301 Spruce St. (in Hillcrest).
A documentary "March in the Rain" of the February 28, 1970 Chicano Anti-War Moratorium demonstration in Los Angeles will also be shown. $5 for general admission and $3 for students.
