Invitación al Publico

Se invita a todas las generaciones de 1974 y antes de las escuelas Poly, Etic, Prepa-Lazaro Cardenaz/Tecnologico de Tijuana, UABC, Abraham Castellanos y publico en General. Este Evento tendrá con fin recaudar fondos para la ayuda a las escuelas. El evento se llevará a cabo el 22 de octubre a las 9:00 p.m. en el Club Deportivo Campestre con la participación musical de Los Bons. Lectura Bilingue

¿Habla Español? Fábulas contadas en inglés y español serán presentadas en la biblioteca de Mira Mesa situada en 8405 New Salem St., San Diego. Este programa presentará cuentos clásicos y contemporaneos para niños jóvenes. Cuentos tradicionales y de hadas se realizarán con técnicas ilustrativas de las imágenes. Jazz to School

The San Diego Jazz Artists Guild is devoted to developing a new generation of jazz fans beginning in childhood years, as well as nurturing the present adult audience, by means of its Music-in-Schools interactive jazz seminars for students, jazz parties for adults, and monthly jam sessions held on the 3rd of the month from 1:30 to 5:30 pm, at the Musicians Union Hall, located at 1717 West Morena Blvd., San Diego. 20th Century Latin American Music

Music by 20th century Latin American composers will be featured in the second program of the Fall 1999 Concert Series of the First Unitarian Universalist Church on Sat. October 16 at 7:30 p.m. Clarinetist Marian Liebowitz and pianist Karen Follingstad will perform works acquired during their travels as Artistic Ambassadors. A suggested donation of $8 per person will be accepted at the door. The church is located at 4190 Front Street, across from the UCSD Medical Center in Hillcrest.

 

Native Plant Sale

Saturday, October 16, beginning at 10:00 a.m. the Native Plant Sale will be ideal opportunity to purchase plants, seeds and bulbs. In addition to plant material, the California Native Plant Society, will offer books, posters, note cards and abundant advice from experienced chapter members. Tap Dogs

It all started with six guys, from a steel town north of Sydney, Australia in 1995. Dein Perry, decided to create a contemporary show which centered around his experiences as an industrial machinist. The result: Tap Dogs, which plays for two performances only at the California Center for the Arts, Escondido on Sat., Oct. 16 at 8:00 p.m. and Sun., Oct. 17 at 2 p.m. Tickets are priced from $20 to $45 and may be purchased by calling 1-800-988-4253.

 

An Evening with Eleanor

North Coast Repertory Theatre continues its 1999/2000 event series of music, drama and fun. Leading off with An Evening with Eleanor, a funny, touching, historical insight into a woman who is considered one of the most admired people of this century. The Witches

San Diego Junior Theatre presents the North American premiere of "The Witches" which can be seen at the Casa del Prado Theatre in Balboa Park from October 22nd through November 7th. The magical effects and illusions in this production are amazing. Admission prices are $5-$7 for seniors and children under 12, $7-$9 for adults. Dracula

Community Actors Theatre will present the classic production "Dracula" on October 15-31. The show will run Friday and Saturday nights at 8 p.m. and Sunday matinees will be at 3 p.m. Donation is $10 general audience; $8 Seniors/Students/Military; $5 ages 6-12; Free under the age of 6. Phil-Am Expo

With high-caliber actors and actresses heading the cast of performers and entertainers, the highly-successful Philippine-American Convention and Exposition reels off to a start Oct. 16 & 17 at the Del Mar County Fairgrounds in San Diego. This two-day affair, revolves around the theme United in Respect and Love for God and Country. Tickets are now available and can be obtained by calling 477-0080.

 

Painting with Light

Painting With Light features this decade's newest and hottest art form, computer manipulated imagery. The work on display is that of students in the San Diego Art Institute's Multi-Media program created with the use of start of the art computer software. Using the latest technology, 24 works have been transferred onto canvas 3 X 3' surfaces, creating "hard copies", illustrating that computer art can now be made to look and "feel" like a watercolor or an oil painting on canvas. The San Diego Art Institute is located in Balboa Park, House of Charm, 1439 El Prado Street. Requested Gallery donation is $3 for adults; $2 for Senior Citizens, Military and Students; Children under 12 are admitted free.
