We
did it!
Words cannot express the gratitude and appreciation that all of usstudents, teachers, staff and administratorshave for your support of Proposition BB. When 73% of you voted this week for the district's school improvement bond, you demonstrated the strength of your commitment to our young people. Thanks to you, we can replace crumbling infrastructures and give our students modern classrooms, safe buildings and learning environments that support a true, world-class education.

Raza Gains Political Seats
By Dan Muñoz Sr.
Though it is still not clear just who is going to be the next
President, what is quite clear is that there has been an increase
in the number of Mexican-American elected to public office. There
will be 20 Raza politicians in the State Assembly. This means
that we will have added clout in the state. Whether our elected
officials work for the benefit and inclusion of our people in
the political life of the state and country remains to be seen.
Newly Elected Latino Officials Of Southern
California
Southern California has been a mecca for new migration
into our country since the 1700's. Recently a new breed of MexicanAmerican,
Latino, Hispano has begun to take their place among the social,
economic, political elements of American society. Election 2000
saw an upsurge in the raw numbers of our Raza that accepted the
challenge and made the run for political office.

The Mexican Revolution of 1910
By Cindy Baxman
Introduction
During the decade of 1910-1920, the United States and the
Mexican border was a volatile area. The region was continually
interacting, both societies coming into direct contact with one
another. Individuals, families, and larger groups from both sides,
freely moved from one country to the other.

The U.S. political forces that shut third-party candidates

There's No Rush! Continue The Count
The rush to claim victory, by the G.W. Bush and Al Gore
forces, is at best unsightly & demeaning. At worse it creates
the impression and appearance of being extremely self-centered,
and uncaring. This syndrome of "winning at any cost"
makes a mockery of our political system and shows total disrespect
for our political concepts of "America being a Sovereign
Nation."

At First I Thought It Was Funny

At first I thought it was funny the way the election for president
played out in Florida. The reaction and actions by campaign operatives
reminded me of elections at constitutional conventions of the

different observations emerged and anger has subdued the humor
in the situation.

no sólo momentos de lucha política sino también
los detalles íntimos de día a día.
