Come Celebrate Marines’ Birthday Dinner-Dance at Don Diego VFW Post

The Marine Corps League Scuttlebutt Detachment is going to have a big Birthday Ball dinner-dance on Saturday, November 8, 2003, at the Don Diego VFW Post 7420, 2100 Logan Ave., San Diego.

For the very first time, the public is invited to join this celebration in honor of the Marine Corps 228th Birthday. It will be a classy event, so people interested in attending are asked to dress formally: ladies in after-five dinner dresses or pantsuits; gentlemen in suits or sport coats with shirt and tie.

Tickets for $25.00 per person (adults only) includes a formal sit-down dinner, music by the awesome, popular Latino band called “Breez-in.” Great door prizes include vacation getaways in Las Vegas, Laughlin, and Harrah’s in San Diego, plus dinners for two at local restaurants. Parking is limited in the area, so get there early. Doors open at 4:30 p.m. A formal sit-down dinner will be served beginning at 5:00 p.m. Dancing is from 8:00 p.m. to midnight.

Interships Availble With Lt Governor Office in San Diego

Lieutenant Governor Cruz M. Bustamante San Diego office seeks interns for the 2004 spring and summer terms. Our office is located in downtown San Diego and is primarily responsible for maintaining the Lieutenant Governor’s relationship with the people of Southern California.

An ideal intern would be an undergraduate student possessing excellent writing skills, a pleasant phone demeanor, and a basic knowledge of computers, including Microsoft Word and Excel. This is a wonderful opportunity for students who are interested in California politics and want to get involved in helping people statewide.

DESCRIPTION OF INTERNSHIP POSITION: The intern’s responsibilities would include drafting constituent correspondence, answering phones, assisting the Lieutenant Governor’s staff with various projects and providing other support.
