San Diego Latinos In Short Supply On Election Roles

Escases' de Latinos' en Las

Posiciones de Eleccion Popular

En el Condado de San Diego.

By: D.L. Muñoz

An election was held in the County of San Diego. Unfortunately, a large part of the community was missing in the election rolls. There were 243 positions up for election. They ranged from the Supervisors to local Planning Boards. Of these positions only 18 MexicanAmericans and Filipinos were elected. In many instances there were no Hispanics running for the vacancies in some they were. It appears that in those cases the majority White voters couldn't bring themselves to vote for them.
