$12,000 scholarship competition for California high school seniors

California high school seniors who intend to study marine science and have applied to a college or university in California are invited to compete for the $12,000 John D. Isaacs Memorial Scholarship.

The John D. Isaacs Memorial Scholarship was established in 1981 to recognize excellence in research by high school seniors, to encourage interest in marine science at the high school level, and to encourage pursuit of scholastic excellence in higher education. Each year, one California high school senior who presents an outstanding marine science project at the California State Science Fair is awarded the Isaacs Scholarship sponsored by the California Sea Grant College Program to study at a college or university in California. The scholarship is awarded in four annual installments of $3,000 each.

Brochures are mailed to high schools in California in November of each year. The postmark deadline for applications is Friday, April 7, 2000.
