The San Diego State women's basketball plays its final pre-season tune-up Saturday night, when the Aztecs host SBC Hanacka Kyselka Prerov of the Czech Republic. The Aztecs, who did not win an exhibition game a year ago, will be looking to make it two in a row after defeating the NWBL's USA Elite last Friday, 68-60, in their exhibition opener.

San Diego State got its 1999-00 season off to a good start Friday with a victory over the USA Elite team. The Aztecs led by as many as 23 points with less than six minutes to play before having to hold off a late surge by USA Elite.

Senior post player Mary Apiafi led the Aztecs in both scoring and rebounding with 13 points and 14 boards. It is the first time since coming to San Diego State that she has posted double figures in both points and rebounds in the same game.

Sophomore Claire Swin-bank also scored in double figures for the Aztecs, finishing up with 13 points, including eight in the second half.

Three other Aztecs, Anita Bundage, Jamey Cox and Atim Otii chipped in nine points apiece in the winning effort.

All three freshmen saw action in the game. Cox, who played 19 minutes at the point guard position, got the most work. Kacee Wheeler finished with five points on 2-for-4 shooting in 13 minutes of playing time, while post player Andrea Kiesling added a free throw and six rebounds (third best on team) in her 12 minutes on the court.
