ELECTION '98
This year's Primary is different then previous years. To guide
you on the use of your "Primary Election Ballots, the following
guide lines are suggested:
This year, we have an "open" Primary. This means
that all the candidates of every party will be listed on your
ballot. You may vote for one candidate, if the ballot indicates
`VOTE FOR ONE.' You may vote for a candidate of any party but
you can only vote for one.
If the ballot indicates that you may vote for more than one,
such as in participant ballot listings for " County Central
Committee" carry out that instruction if you desire. But
do not vote for more than the number indicated. You will only
be able to vote for your own party in this instance.
If on the ballot, your party has only one candidate listed,
he will be in the General Election representing your party whether
you vote for him or not. They need only receive one vote, his
own and he will be you candidate.
You can vote for another party's candidate, if there is more
than one candidate from the same party contending for a particular
office.
Example: In the 76th Assembly race one Democrat is running
"Susan Davis.' She will be in the General election. However
there are two Republicans competing against each other for the
76th Assembly seat; Duane Admire and Linda Escher-Davis. Don't
waste your one vote voting for Susan Davis... She will be in the
Primary. However, you may wish to support one of the Republicans
to either strengthen or weaken their race.
LA PRENSA SAN DIEGO WILL ONLY SUPPORT OR ENDORSE
IN THOSE RACES WHERE THERE IS MORE THAN ONE PARTY CANDIDATE RUNNING
AND A CHOICE HAS TO BE MADE. REST ASSURED THAT ANY RACE, WE HAVE
ANY INTEREST IN THAT DOES NOT SHOW SUPPORT OR ENDORSEMENT, ONLY
MEANS THAT THE CANDIDATE WE ARE INTERESTED IN IS ALREADY GUARANTEED
TO BE IN THE GENERAL ELECTION.
