Cultural Days, Saturday, and Sunday, May 15 & 16 at 10 a.m.
to dusk both days, in San Diego's Balboa Park on the corner of
Park Blvd., and Presidents Way.
We are pleased to welcome back after a five year hiatus the "Tewa Dancers from the North." The Quechan Lightning Singers of Fort Yuma Arizona, will also be making their first AICD appearance. The Baja California Kumeyaay Singers, Dance Mexi'cayotl Aztec Dancers, Eagle Talon Dancers, Indian flutist Bill Neal will also perform, just to name a few. There is no admission charge. Steve Martin's Picasso
Steve Martin`s Picaso at the Lapin Agile (translation: nimble rabbit) is a place where ideas fly, tongues wag and Pablo Picasso and Albert Einstein lock wits in a hilarious verbal joust about painting, probability, lust and the future of the world.
On Friday, May 14 Picasso at the Lapin Agile will open at San Diego Repertory Theatre in the Lyceum Stage/Horton Plaza, and will run through June 13. Tickets range from $21-$32. For more information call 544-1000.
Fiesta Day
La Cámara de Comercio de Ramona se prepara para la presentación anual del evento "Fiesta Day" durante el Ra-mona Roundup Rodeo 1999. I Am A Man
The Grossmont College Theatre Arts Department with the San Diego Black Ensemble Theatre will pre-sent I Am A Man, on May 13-15, May 18-22 at 8 p.m. and May 15, 16, 22 at 2 p.m. in the Stagehouse Theatre. This gripping drama, set in Memphis, Tennessee, in 1968, is about power, leadership, the rough-and-tumble process of social change and the assassination of Dr. Martin Luther King. Presidio History
The San Diego Park and Recreation Department is hosting a special event in Presidio Park on Sunday 23, highlighting the history of the park. Called "Presidio History Re-Visited," this day will feature public archeology tours, cultural displays and demonstrations, and refreshments from noon - 5 PM. Presidio Park is located off Interstate 8 at the Taylor Street Exit.
Armed Forces Day Festival
Saturday, May 15, 10 a.m. - 4 p.m., at the Marine Corps Air Station Miramar, San Diego, there sill be live entertainment, car show, craft fair, kid's rides, U.S. Cavalry reenactment, military demonstrations and military aircraft and vehicles on display. The Oak Ridge Boys

Treasuring The Future
Treasuring the Future: Children's Rights and Realities will be on display in San Diego as part of a select 17-city national tour. This unique hands-on exhibit allows adults and children to learn about rights as they play with fun and interactive panels and displays. International Museum Day
On May 18th, the Museum of Contemporary Art, San Diego, joins museums around the globe to celebrate International Museum Day. To mark this event, free admission will be offered all day at both MCA locations in La Jolla and Downtown San Diego.
This years's theme, "Pleasures of Discovery," presents a perfect opportunity for San Diego County residents to discovery, or rediscover, the artwork on view at the Museum of Contemporary Art. Symphony & Chorus Concert
Three cheers for the red, white, and blue on May 15 & 16 as La Jolla Symphony & Chorus Music Director Harvey Sollberger presents an exciting collection of favorite 20th century American music.
Honoring Elliot Carter's 90th birthday last December, An All-American Weekend includes two works by the composer. Next, audiences will find themselves transported to the mean streets of Leonard Bernstein's energetic, familiar Symphonic Dances from West Side Story, including favorite movements like Mambo, Cha-cha, Cool, and Rumble. Wildlife Painter at Santa Ysabel Gallery
At Santa Ysabel Art Gallery, May 15 through June 20, a one-person show featuring the nationally known and highly acclaimed wildlife artist Joe Garcia. Joe Garcia's paintings are found in galleries and private collections throughout the United States. His work has been featured in many books including The Art of the American West and Contemporary Western Artists.

California Ballet
The California Ballet Company will present its full-length, fun from end to end, version of the all-time classic ballet Coppelia at Copley Symphony Hall on May 15, at 2:30 and 8 p.m. and May 16 at 2:30 p.m. Coppelia is set against the background of a quaint pleasant village. The rousing Mazurka and Czardas dance sequences, the delightful Friends' dance, and the young lovers, Franz and Swanhilda, all combine to make this ballet one of the most popular classics in the world.
