If you have a small business you may qualify to participate in a FREE business training program conducted by the University of San Diego. Don't be left out - over 100 small business owners have atended the program this year!

As a small business owner you know how hard it is to compete. Other companies always seem to get the contracts you go after - contracts you need to help your company grow. What's their secret? They have learned how to compete to win - and now you may have the opportunity to learn their secrets.

Mission Statement

Competitive Skills for Small Businesses training program is sponsored by the University of San Diego, in partnership with the City of San Diego and Sempra Energy and is funded by the State of California Employment Training Program. The purpose of this program is to provide San Diego small business owners with training management skills that will help enhance a competitive edge.

Program Funding Source

This program is funded by the California Employment Graining Panel. The California Employment Training Panel provides training funds to increase the competitiveness of California businesses that pay into that state employment tax fund. The funds allocated to the CSSB Training Project are for entrepreneurial skills training for California small business owners who employ no less than one and no more than nine full time employees. This is how we are able to offer the course to you... at no charge.

When will the training sessions be offered?

Group One—April 18—June 1, 2000

Group Two - September 5 - October 21, 2000

Group Three - October 24 - December 9, 2000

(Classes meet Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 6:00 p.m. until 10:00 p.m. and Sturdays from 8:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m.)

Who is Eligible?

There are only five qualifications you must meet to qualify for this FREE, exciting and informative program.

1. You must employ between one and nine full time employees, excluding owners.

2. You must be contributing to the California Unemployment Insurance (UI) Fund for a minimum of six months and provide a copy of the last quarterly wage and withholding report form.

3. You must be the owner or spouse of owner, and own a minimum of 20% of your company.

4. You must have an eagerness to improve your competitive edge.

5. You must be committed to attend all required program hours. A refundable $500 deposit will be held to reserve your spot and will be refunded upon completion of all classes and state requirements.

Attend For Free

You or any of the members of your management team can attend this program and still benefit from the valuable information. The cost for the 52-hour program is $750 and includes all course materials, parking and refreshments.
