Community Input Needed for Market/Euclid Corridor
As a result of the failed proposal to develop a produce distribution center across from the Malcolm X Library, the City Council directed SEDC to work with the community to develop an plan acceptable to the community for the property purchased by the City.
The Coalition of Neighborhood Councils sponsored a series of community meetings, and these meetings have informally become known as the Market/Euclid Corridor Planning Group. Members of this group are actively seeking participation and input from ALL community members, along with a representative from SEDC and the City Planning Department, to develop a community-driven, community-supported proposal for the Market/Euclid area.
The Market/Euclid Corridor Planning Group will evaluate existing community plans and work with the official community planning groups to expand upon the hard work and effort that others who have come before us have done, to refine the plans and to pursue funding sources for implementation of those plans. The goal is, as Reynaldo Pisano so eloquently stated, " . . . to build the will and the skill to get things done in the community."
The community is invited to participate in this community effort. The Market/Euclid Corridor Planning Group will be meeting at 6:00 p.m. at the Jacobs Center, 5160 Federal Boulevard, on Thursday, March 30. The Coalition of Neighborhood Councils will hold its regularly scheduled meeting at 6:30 p.m. at the Jacobs Center on Monday, March 27.
Don Diego VFW Ladies Auxiliary sponsored a fingerprinting program held at Burbgan Elementary School. The program was coordinated by Safety Chairman Loren Diaz. At the event McGruff the crime dog was played by Fred Gomez. Special speakers were Officers Ernesto Servin and Juan P. Leyva.
The Small Business Administration presents a Free Loan Pre-Qualification Latino Workshop

Law Library Offering Monthly Classes in Basic Legal Research to Public
"What are your rights as a tenant?" "...as a landlord?" "Can your neighbor legally play calypso music at 2 a.m.?" These and other questions are just some of the ways that law touches every citizen, every day. Answers to these and other legal questions can be found with just a bit of digging in the right places. In order to help the public find and understand the law, the San Diego County Public Law Library is now offering monthly classes on basic legal research to the public.
These classes are taught by Amy Hale, a reference librarian for the County Public Law Library, who has both a law degree and a library science degree. She also has a user-friendly teaching style which helps those who have never dealt with the law understand how to do legal research. She and other reference librarians at the law library have a professional commitment to helping others learn how to unravel mysteries of looking up the law.
The class includes a tour of the Main Law Library itself as well as informative hand-outs and hands-on demonstrations. Information, such as how to find laws, cases, and research materials will covered, as well as how to do some legal research on the Internet. Feel free to bring your legal questions so you can start your own research after class, but please understand that the reference librarians cannot give you legal advice. They can, however, show you where the resources are located so you can find your own answers.
The next classes will be Saturday, March 25th, and Saturday, April 22nd, from 1:00 p.m.-3:00 p.m. at the law library at 1105 Front Street. Please sign up early as class space is limited.
