Women Destination 2000 Conference Set for March 18

The seventh Annual Women Destination 2000, a one-day conference for women, will be held on Saturday, March 18, from 8:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., at the Helix High School cafeteria, 7323 University Avenue.

The purpose of the conference is to assist women who want to make positive changes in their lives. Participants will hear motivational speakers and attend workshops to help them identify personal talents and skills, learn to set and achieve goals, prepare for employment opportunities, build self-esteem, access community resources, overcome adverse situations and remove fears about entering or re-entering the work force.

The popular conference is open to women, 18 years and older, and is attended by women throughout San Diego county. The day include an early bird fitness session, continental breakfast and lunch, workshops, seminars, motivating speakers, resource materials, and a fashion show demonstrating how to "dress for success with less".

On-site childcare will be available with advanced reservations. All conference attendees also will be eligible to apply for grants and scholarships to help them achieve their personal goals.

Admission is $5.00 per person for the conference and $5 per family for child care. Space is limited.

Women Destination 2000 is sponsored by Soroptimist International of La Mesa, a service organization of business and executive women, and the S-Club of Helix High School, in cooperation with the Copley Family YMCA.

The keynote speakers will be Nona Powers, an artist, framing specialist, and member of the Soroptimist Club, who eight years ago told the club about her personal struggles and convinced the organization to sponsor the conference to assist women like herself.
