The League of
United Latin American Citizens (LULAC) Council 2842 has announced
their 15th Annual Scholarship Awards Luncheon will
be held Saturday June 24, 2000 at the Handlery Hotel, Mission
Valley 950 Hotel Circle North, San Diego, California.
The festivities will get underway at Twelve Noon when this
year's Mistress of Ceremonies, Ms. Sally Lowery, invites
all 45 Scholarship recipients, their families & friends, along
with the program presenters, speakers, and guests of honor, to
the luncheon feast that will await them.

Two Others Earn State Science Honors
Arietta Fleming-Davies, a Sweetwater district student
who has participated in science fairs for the last five years,
is this year's California Science Fair Student of the Year.
LULAC Announces Plans for National Convention
in Washington DC
Washington, DC The League of United Latin American Citizens
(LULAC), the oldest and largest Hispanic civil rights organization
in the United States, today announced plans for its 71st Annual
National Convention and Exposition, "Building Unity For
The New Millennium," to be held from June 25 through
July 1, 2000 in Washington, D.C. The week-long convention at the
Omni Shoreham Hotel in Northwest Washington is expected to draw
over 3,000 LULAC delegates and 4,000 visitors.
