Educational Watch: Our old friend from San Ysidro School District, Gil Anzaldua is no longer the Los Angeles County School Superintendent. Our Tejas' friends tell us that Anzaldua was just hired as the Superintendent of the El Paso Independent School District. Big step down in size and salary. We think Gil is going to finish out his career near home. Money wasn't a factor as much as peace of mind. Suerte Gil.
Campaign 2000 is underway. Texas Governor George W. Bush just signed into law a $3,000 pay raise for teachers, gave the taxpayers $1.4 billion worth of tax cuts. And to tie up lose ends, he went and had beans and frijoles with the Mexican Vaqueros and ended social promotion of their children to get their vote on the cheap.
Alternative Politica... Solana beach beachniks created an Alternative political group for all those folks out there disgusted with Right Wing Wackos and Left Wing beatniks to have a sane voice in state and local politics. Hummmm wonder why they didn't invite any Taco Chicanos to their feast?
Welcome to the farm, members of the Grand Jury! You say anything bad about Mama Golding and you quickly find out the animals are still in charge. People don't really matter. The local shills are quick to attack. No matter that you tell the truth about the absolutely corrupt political system that is a cancer destroying our city. Don't let up.
Garbage in Garbage Out... Our middle of the road Governor is now going to eliminate state janitors that clean state buildings and privatize the function. Governor Davis wants to spend $99,000 per year per JANITOR!! Eighty full time UNION workers at a cost of $8.6 million. How about giving the taxpayers a break Señor Gobernador!
As Tezzy noted a while back... The Philippine government was making efforts to bring the U.S. Navy back to the islands (economics dictates no other course for the country). Just lately a Pact was ratified (the Visiting Force Agreement). The U.S. will be giving the Philippines new ships, planes and helicopters. (Great for hunting down those pesky insurgents that keep trying to topple the government.) Look for Olon-gapo to be open for business very soon.
Who is in ..Who is out: The musical game of chairs is on to see which Hissssspunic
Is going to be the favorite pawn of the establishment. Looks like Ed Lopez, the Chamber of Commerce Peon on the San Diego Unified School Board is fast replacing Councilman Juan Var-gas who is trying to run for Mayor without Her Royal Highness blessing. Too bad Juanito sold out so early in the game. He is out of gas in the Chicano community.
Gay Agenda running out of steam in Sacramento... Denise Ducheny (D) finding out the Gay agenda too hard for Chicanos to carry... The folks back home in L.A. (a.k.a. little Rome) won't stomach their elected Reps supporting something that is so anti-Catholic...
Pssssst Susan Davis your support of this agenda is not going to help you against Bilbry.....
Warning Superintendent Ed Brand... Vista and La Mesa School Bond issues went down to defeat... Doesn't look good for your Bond issue... Property owners have had it with being ripped off. Be different... Hummmm wonder where you are going to get that 3-7% of the vote you really need.
Bueno gente, es todo! Have fun, enjoy el sol, and take a Gringo to lunch...
