INTERNSHIPS & SCHOLARSHIPS

MTV Summer Associate Program

What is the Focus of the Program?

The Summer Associate Program was created to expand MTV Networks diversity initiative, and therefore we encourage diverse candidates to apply. MTVN has established relationships with five non-profit diverse, youth-oriented organizations that commit to partnering with us each summer:

- "Y.E. S" To Jobs
- Jobs for Youth
- T. Howard Foundation
- Prep for Prep
- MANN

What Types of Students Do We Look For?

The Summer Associate Program is geared towards more advanced, career focused individuals who have had at least one prior internship and/or work experience in the entertainment industry. We target individuals who are using this experience as a way to get a head- start on their careers within the industry, and are willing to commit to the full-time demands of the program.

Are There Grade Level Guidelines?

Summer Associates must be entering their Senior year in college, or recent college graduates. We tap into this pool of candidates as potential entry-level employees upon the completion of the program. We will also try to accommodate requests for law school or MBA students, but the bulk of our needs are at the undergraduate level.

What is the Compensation?

The salary is $300 per week for undergrads and recent graduates, and $450 per week for graduate school students.

What is the Difference Between a Summer Associate and a Credit Intern?

The Summer Associate Program is a full-time, ten week program from June 1st through August 6th, with no exceptions. Every Friday the Summer Associates meet to work on a project which is presented to the channel presidents at the conclusion of the program. Throughout the ten-week program, the Associates are required to attend a series of lectures given by guest speakers from various departments throughout MTV Networks. We will be targeting a pool of 25 candidates this summer.
