David A. Butler has been appointed president of Paradise Valley Hospital/Adventist Health (PVH), a 237-bed acute care facility in National City. According to Robert G. Carmen, executive vice president for Adventist Health and board chair for PVH, Butler will assume his new responsibilities June 7.
"I look forward to working with David," said Carmen. "I am pleased that we found a candidate with his management experience as well as a strong clinical background. David's solid health care experience combined with his commitment to our mission will be a benefit to PVH and to our system as a whole."
Butler, who is also an RN, has many years of health care experience, which include an impressive track record of improving hospital financial performance with a management style that encourages creativity, professional growth and collaborative relations with physicians. According to Carmen, butler will bring a new perspective to the currently challenging situation at PVH.
Most recently, Butler was CEO of Columbia Valley Regional Medical Center in Brownsville, Texas, where he oversaw hospital activities and associated businesses, including home health, rehab, a skilled nursing facility, hyperbaric and wound care services as well as primary care clinics. Prior to his role at the Brownsville facility, butler served in a variety of leadership roles for other health care organizations, including Health Trust and Methodist Health Systems.
A graduate of Southern College in Collegedale, Tenn., Butler holds an AS in Nursing as well as a BS in Business Administration/Long Term Care. He is a member of the Texas Hospital Association and has been an active participant in many are chambers of commerce.
