Hispanic Association of Communications Employees of SBC to Award $7,500 in Scholarships

The Hispanic Association of Communications Employees of SBC (HACEMOS), parent corporation for Pacific Bell, are accepting applications from graduating High School students and current college students through July 30, 1999, for $7,500 in scholarships.

"As a member of HACEMOS I couldn't be prouder of the work we do within the Hispanic community," said John Chavez, president for HACEMOS. "Pacific Bell, and our parent company SBC, recognize that so much of our success tomorrow depends on the education and information that our children are provided today. The Scholarships we are awarding will help ensure the advancement and prosperity of the Hispanic community at large."

Scholarship recipients must have a minimum 2.0 grade point average and reside in San Diego or Imperial Counties. Each recipient will be limited to one scholarship in any one year, with the maximum not to exceed $500. Applicants can find a copy of the application at http://www.HACEMOS.org/sandiego/default.htm.

HACEMOS is a non-profit, non-partisan organization and is open to active and retired employees of the SBC Communications, Inc. family of companies. The HACEMOS mission is to foster an environment where people support and encourage each other to succeed in the community, both professionally and personally. The San Diego HACEMOS Chapter was established shortly after the merger between SBC Communications, Inc. and Pacific Telesis in April 1997.
