Latina Conference
The Inland Empire Latina Conference which took place on March 26, will be featured on television on August 11, 1999 on public broadcasting station (PS) KVCR, channel 24 at 7:30 p.m.

"Bravo Broadway"
The San Diego Symphony is presenting an evening of hit songs and music on July 23 & 24. Joining the Symphony for the second consecutive year will be guest conductor Randall Craig Fleischer, soprano Jan Horvath, tenor Doug LeBrecque and Tony award-winning baritone Michael Maguire.
With five different shows available, guest who saw last year's performance will be treated to all new songs during this year's Bravo Broadway. To help "set the stage" each evening, guests will be greeted by a 1924 Yellow Cab, the Statue of Liberty and a pre-concert performance of Broadway hits by Navy Band Southwest from 6:45 to 7:25 p.m. Nightly fireworks will also cap off each performance. The approximate cost for parking is $4. Performances begin at 7:30 p.m. on Navy Pier. Gates open at 6 p.m. Picnic basket check stations and tables are also available. Sunset Boulevard
PACE Theatrical Group and Columbia Artists Management, are please to announce that the musical Sunset Boulevard will play July 27 through August 1, at the Civic Theatre. Sunset Boulevard is a passionate love story set on Hollywood's street of dreams and tells the story of a young, down-on-his-luck screenwriter, Joe Gillis, and his fateful meeting with Norma Desmond, a legendary star of the silent screen Webber's sweeping, romantic melodies soar against the glamorous backdrop of 1950s Hollywood. Guatemalan Weaver Returns
Rafaela Godinez, a renowned Guatemalan
weaver and teacher, will appear at the San Diego Museum of Man,
10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Wednesday, July 28 through Sunday, August
1, for a special exhibition, demonstration and sale.
A native of San Antonio Aguas Calientes, Godinez learned to weave from her mother when she was eight. She has participated in numerous expositions at museum and other institutions. Highly skilled in the fine art of weaving on the backstrap loom, Godinez has taught and exhibited her craft throughout the United States and Guatemala. The San Diego Museum of Man is open daily. Latino Film Festival
The San Diego Latino Film Festival hits the road this summer with two exciting film series. First is the Cine Club: Monthly Film and Video Series that will hold its screenings at the San Diego Public Library's Central Branch at 820 E Street., every third Wednesday of every month beginning on July 28 at 6:30 p.m.
The first Cine Club on July 28 at 6:30 p.m. will be "The Continuing Influence of Cantinflas". This charming and smart film clip and discussion program will celebrate the artistic and cultural legacy of one of Mexico's greatest film personalities - Mario Moreno.
The San Diego Latino Film Festival will continue its travels with the second Cine Club on August 18 and the first film in the Cine Mexicana: Mexican Film Series screening at the CinemaStar Theaters at 320 3rd Ave., in downtown Chula Vista. Confirmed as the first film August 20-26 will be Santitos, a magical, humorous and passion-filled odyssey about a beautiful young widow's search for her missing child. "Crazy For You"
San Diego Junior Theatre presents "Crazy For You" at the Casa del Prado Theatre in Balboa Park from July 30th through August 8th. Show times are Fridays at 7 p.m., Saturdays and Sundays at 2 p.m. Admission prices are $5-$7 for seniors and children 12 and under, $7-$9 for adults.
In this heartwarming tale of boy meets girl, Bobby Child, the rich son of a banking family hears out west, following his mother's orders to take care of some business and foreclose on a rundown theatre in Nevada. He arrives in Deadrock, an abandoned little town, and at first sight, falls in love with Polly Baker, the daughter of the theatre owner. In an effort to save the theatre and win the heart of polly, he devised a plan to put on a show to pay for the mortgage.
Volleyball Championships
More than 200 kids, age twelve to eighteen, from throughout the United States are competing in teams of six and two-on-two at he upcoming 6th Annual USA Junior Olympic Beach Volleyball Championships, 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, July 31 and Sunday, August 1 on the sand at Pier Plaza in Imperial Beach. Winners of the dou-bles division are awarded gold medals and become the USA Junior National Beach Volleyball Champions. Entrance is free. To enter the competition call 486-3311.
Koco Loco to Perform
San Diego County residents can enjoy a free early-sunset concert in the park Saturday, July 31 from 5:30 to 7 p.m. as Koco Loco kicks off EastLake Summer Sounds `99. Concert goers are invited to bring blankets and beach chairs for this open-seating performance. Drinks and snacks will be available.
Koco Loco brings to life the sounds of recording artist Jimmy Buffet, along with a variety of upbeat rhythms and sing-along favorites. To reach Chula Vista Community Park, take I-805 to Telegraph Canyon Road and travel east. Turn right at Eastlake Parkway and the park will be two blocks up on the right hand side, at 1060 EastLake Parkway. For more information, call 421-3111.
