Chicano delegation traveled to Cuba July 11-18, 1999 to meet with Cubans to exchange ideas and to warm up the chilly conditions that have soured the relations between Cuba and the U.S. The delegation was organized and led by Dr. Armando Navarro, professor at the University of Riverside. Various delegations from the Universities Utah , California, Claremont, Seattle, Minnesota and Texas will be in the delegation.
Judge Dick Murphy, candidate for Mayor has raised more than $100,000 for his bid to replace Mayor Golding. Murphy was appointed a Municipal Court Judge by then Governor Deukmejian in 1985 and elevated to the San Diego Superior court in 1989.
Governor Davis (the State) and the Professional Engineers in California Union, sued by the National Right to Work Foundation (class Action Law suite) for violating the First Amendment rights of all California state employees. According to the attorneys, the union may not collect compulsory dues spent on activities unrelated to collective bargaining. The Governor signed a MOU which forces state workers, whether union members or not, to pay illegally high dues to Engineers Union officials who then can use the money politically against them.

Mayor Art Madrid of the City of La Mesa wants to send Supervisor Dianne Jacob, District 2 to retirement. Though both are Republicans, think Raza would probably be better off with Madrid then Jacobs who went bunkers blaming all the mountain fires in the East County, all the drug smuggling, gun shootings, and all other problems she couldn't handle on the terrible mexicans, aliens or otherwise! Lately she has been silent on the issue... got kind of embarrassing for her when La Migra and the Sheriffs get arresting nothing but White Hicks, constituents of Jacobs, smuggling the drugs, having cook outs in them, there hills, and going around beating and shooting all them foreigners (preferably brown- but now and then a little darker). Jacobs like Pete Wilson had better take her wedge issues and go hide in the hills.
