Gospel Music Concert
Three premiere gospel choirs will present a celebration of gospel music, "And The People Did Fly," at 7 p.m., Feb. 5, in the City College Theatre, located at 1450 C Street between 14th and 15th Streets in downtown San Diego.
Featured in the free concert will be the Martin Luther King, Jr. Community Choir of San Diego, the UCSD Gospel Choir and the Agape Allegro Chorale of Southern California. Parking is free in lots next to the theatre. For details, please call 230-2512.
Grossmont College's Stagehouse
Grossmont College Theatre Arts Department and the San Diego Pantomime Theater will present The Experiment at the Stagehouse Theatre on Grossmont's campus. Special performances for local schools will be held on Feb. 4 & 5 at 10 a.m. Performances for the general public will be Feb. 4, 5 and 6 at 7 p.m. and Saturday, Feb. 6 at 2 p.m.
The Experiment is a unique non-verbal theatrical performance that gets one's creative and imaginative juices flowing. First Thursday Concert
The Escondido Public Library, located at 239 South Kalmia, features K'anchay at its First Thursday Concert on Feb. 4 at 7 p.m. in the Library's Turrentine Room.
K'anchay consists of four musicians who play a total of over twenty instruments and perform many complex vocal arrangements in four-part harmony. They will entertain with traditional and modern music of the Andes. The concert is free and open to the public. For additional information, call (760) 830-4329.
New Works by Robert Sanchez
Opening Saturday, January 30, 1999, at the Porter Troupe Gallery, located at 301 spruce Street will be New Interiors for the Restless Border, an exhibition of a series of new paintings by Robert Sanchez, a resident of San Diego, CA. A reception for the artist will be held Saturday, January 30th, from 2 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Mr. Sanchez will give a brief descriptive talk at the gallery about the works in this exhibition which closes March 13, 1999.
"Ms. Frizzle's Whale of an Adventure"
To celebrate the season of whale migration off the shores of California, The San Diego Natural History Museum in Balboa Park will present "Ms. Frizzle's Whale of an Adventure" on Sunday, Feb. 7, from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
This special event day will feature a variety of family activities focused on whales, including education programs, a paleontology dig in search of whale bones and artifacts, crafts, and "whale tale" field trips with Ms. Frizzle of "The Magic School Bus" television program and Scholastic book series.

Fiesta Español
The San Diego Chamber Orchestra under the baton of Music Director and Conductor Donald Barra brings the music of Spain alive in four concerts at various venues throughout San Diego, Sunday through Wednesday, Feb 7-10, 1999.

The Boys Are Back In Gowns
Anyone who has seen Les Ballets Trockadero de Monte Carlo will undoubtedly say that their performances are entertaining and funny. This ballet company, composed of all-male dancers who perform excerpts from classical 19th century romantic ballets to more recent choreographic pieces, is internationally known for their men in pointe shoes.

through March 28, 1999.
The 30-piece collection chronicles the Kennedy's lives from their first days in Washington when Kennedy was elected to the Senate, through his untimely death, when his family and the country said good-bye in 1963. Of Mice and Men
Carlisle Floyd's dramatic Of Mice and Men, opens in San Diego Opera's 1998-99 International Season at the Civic Theatre on Saturday, Feb. 13. This remarkable opera has received critical and popular acclaim since its 1970 debut in Seattle, and is performed in San Diego for the very first time.
Making his San Diego Opera debut in the role of Lennie is American tenor Anthony Dean Griffey, who has received rave reviews for his role recently after performing it at Glimmerglass Opera and New York City Opera. Of Mice and Men will performed in English with translations projected above the stage. Performances are: Saturday, Feb. 13 at 7 p.m.; Tuesday, Feb. 16 at 7 p.m.; Friday, Feb. 19 at 8 p.m.; and Sunday, Feb. 21 at 2 p.m. Single tickets to all operas start at $31 and can be purchased by calling 570-1100.
The Wedding of The Millennium
The University of California, San Diego Department of Theatre and Dance is pleased to present the 1999 Quinn-Martin production, "Big Love or the Wedding of the Millennium", a new play by Charles L. Mee, it opens Monday, Feb.1 and continues through Sunday, Feb. 7. Performances begin at 8 pm Monday-Saturday and 7 p.m. on Sunday. There will also be a matinee performance on Saturday at 2 pm.
Best known for his aggressively contemporary interpretations of Ancient Greek plays, Mee has chosen to work, on the occasion of the beginning of the third millennium, with what may be the first play ever written. Note: Intended for mature audiences. Some nudity, strong language and mature content. Noise at The Library
San Diego New Music and the Athenaeum are pleased to announce the return of "Noise at the Library", the local concert series devoted to twentieth-century classical music, on Sunday, Feb. 7 at 7:30 pm. Popular local soprano Virginia Sublett will sing settings of folk songs by Ga-lindo, Ginastera, Weisgall, Schoenberg, Copland, Bartok and Milhaud, accompanied by pianist Sandra Brown.
