Adios SDPD Chief of police, Jerry Sanders. Got to admit, you did well by our Mexican American community. It's been a while since our offices have received a "police brutality" complaint. It has been nice for our people to for once enjoy "law and order." You made a difference Gracias Commandante!
El Jefe de La Prensa San Diego invited to break bread and enjoy a glass of wine with the new and old Port Commissioners plus a couple of hundred or so denizens of the Port cities. Missing in action: San Diego Mayor Susan Golding (Represented by Byron Wear Deputy Mayor), National City Mayor George Waters. They were conspicuous by their absences. That must have made the new Port Executive Dennis P. Bouey just a little squirmy. David Cushman, recently appointed to the Commission by Mayor Susan Golding must have become too hot a political potato for the Mayor. His putsch of the San Diego Chamber of Commerce has soured many of the city's "Supremo" leaders on Cushman.
Pregunta: Did the Port District forgot that there are over 700,000 Mexican Americans in San Diego… A quickie head count revealed only three brown faces in a sea of Whites! (That is besides the waiters) Is that all you could find that were qualified to attend? San Diego has a long way to go towards accepting the reality of diversity in the region's population.
What did the large Mexican, Latino, Hispano population get for supporting Gov. Gray Davis? A reading and scanning of the print and electronic media did not reveal a single statement that he would reverse a single one of ex-governor Pete Wilson's hate filled Initiatives that tore apart this State in the last eight years. Does this mean that Governor Davis supports the attacks on Bilingual Education, the attacks on migrant children and mothers, the attacks and destruction of the racial preferences to help educate our youth and the total disregard of the migrants and vicious attacks on them? Failure to act to remove policies, laws, regulations that have a single minded rational of attacking the Latino, Mexican, Hispanic residents of this state demonstrates a total disregard for the 30 percent of the population that supported Davis and the Democrats,
Pregunta: With more people in our prisons, than most every county in the world, Why did Gov. Davis jumped so quickly to reassure the Right-wing that he was going to continue building more prisons, & funding more guards? Of course it doesn't escape our notice what types of people somehow end up in prison: MINORITIES?
Pregunta: Did the voters got duped into voting for a Wilson clone?????
Mayor Susan Golding delivered her last fairy-tale STATE (UNSTATE) OF THE CITY ADDRESS. Her speech was so far removed from reality, that it even makes Pres. Clinton's remarks on what constitutes SEX plausible! Is it a requirement to ignore reality and create out of thin air a fiction of what San Diego has become under her leadership?
PSSSSSST Gov. Davis speechwriter: 1 percent of 264,000 California teachers that are nationally certified on my hand calculator equals 2,640 and not 130 as the Guv stated. An apology to our teachers is in order.
