The Saga of The Chihuahua Dog Continues

I want to express my deep felt thanks and congratulations to Teresa Hernandez on her letter about the Chihuahua dog announcing Taco Bell. I am strongly opposed to it. As an ex-restauranteur, Taco Bell is a real insult to Mexican cuisine.

For decades Taco Bell has been luring our people to eat at their outlets. In the 89's they advertised their taco with a slice of tomato on top. A young Anglo would be eating the tomato first… then proceed to bite on the taco. The new ads are really aimed at the Spanish speaking, not culturally or politically minded, young population.

Some of them think the ad is funny, not insulting. They continue to give their money in exchange for dehydrated, semi-corn shell with fried ground on the inside. Some people don't know any better.

Now if it were the 70's, we probably would have already put a stop to it. Now La Raza is too busy. My deepest thanks to La Prensa San Diego; keep up the good work.

Hispanic/American Veterans Web Page Coming

We plan on inviting the Mexican Consular to the Fort Rosecrans Memorial Day ceremonies.

The Veterans web site is: www.sdvets.org. The next web site in San Diego will be for the Hispanic American Veterans and active duty stationed in San Diego. I need to come to talk to you for ideas because I can't speak Spanish and will need you or someone like you to set my compass so I can be on the right course.

(Larry tried to E mail you but your address was wrong. Give me a jingle at La Prensa San Diego 231-2873. We have many Vets that are Mexican, Latino, or Hispanic Americans. If I can't help you... I can put you in touch with the guys.)

Clairemont Prop L Debate Proponents Had Tough Time

The debate in Clairemont on Prop L went well. In spite of the proponents packing the meeting they were able to muster a bare majority of the votes. The vote was a tie according to the chair. The chair then cast the deciding one vote to declare it in favor Prop L. This does not bode well for the proponents of higher taxes. They need a 2/3 vote to win!
