"The focus of JCNI is to strengthen under-invested neighborhoods. One of the ways we do that is by helping our neighbors learn new strategies for building their capacity," said Jennifer Vanica, executive director of the Jacobs Center. "We are bringing in some of the most creative and innovative minds in San Diego to share their knowledge and experience with others. In return, we learn more about the needs of residents in our area. By creating a common dialogue, we discover new ways to work together to achieve personal and community-wide goals."

The Smart Money Financial Series is a project of the Jacobs Center for NonProfit Innovation, an operating foundation that explores and implements new ways to strengthen under-invested neighborhoods through entrepreneurial projects, hands-on learning relationships, and the creative investment of resources. Part of its work in the community is in the role of developer of Market Creek Plaza, the 20-acre commercial and cultural center in the Diamond Neighborhoods surrounding the project.

JCNI, the action arm of the Jacobs Family Foundation, was founded by Joseph and Violet Jabara Jacobs of the Jacobs Engineering Group, which has offices in San Diego and Pasadena, and their daughters, Valeries Jacobs Hapke and Margaret Jacobs.

Space at the Smart Money Financial Series is limited, so please call and reserve a seat at 619-527-6161.
