La Raza Lawyer Again Named Lawyer of the Year

For the second year in a row, California Lawyer magazine has selected a San Diego La Raza attorney as one of the state's "Lawyer of the Year." Criminal defense appellate attorney, Lynda A. Romero, was honored in the magazine's December edition for her extraordinary work uncovering possible prosecutorial misconduct in a case involving Darin Palmer. Mr. Palmer is a convicted felon who allegedly trade favorable testimony for conjugal visits in the offices of the District Attorney's gang unit. Romero was the only San Diego attorney to be selected for 1998.

Each year California Lawyer recognized attorneys who made new law were instrumental in crafting state of national policy, or continued exceptional work. La Raza attorney, Claudia Smith, was named as one of 1997's Lawyers of the Year for her work as a migrants rights advocate.
