Flash Announce Invitational Try-Out Dates

MiraCosta College Set to Host Mini-Camp for Hopefuls

The San Diego Flash announced that the club will hold its annual open invitational try-outs on January 16 and 17, north of San Diego, on the campus of MiraCosta College in Oceanside, California.

Flash General Manager Sam Kaloustian has already signed seven players from the 1998 squad to contracts for the 1999 season. Mauricio Alegre, Carlos Cruz, Noah Gins, Nate Hetherington, Jaime Munro, Antonio Robles and Jerome Watson have inked deals for the Flash's second A-League campaign. Watson has signed to be a player/assistant coach. Kaloustian is in the process of negotiating contract terms with Joe Cannon, Michael N'Doumbe and Tom Tate. "We have a solid core of good players, we are looking to add several new players to the mix to enhance the team," stated Kaloustian.

In addition to Kaloustian, the new coaching tandem of Papo Santos and Watson will oversee the tryout sessions. Kaloustian expects between 75-100 players to attend the two-day camp. Last year over 250 players attended the open try-outs held at the Rancho Santa Fe Polo Grounds. "This year the process will be a little different, we will review the resumes first and then invite the qualified players to MiraCosta," remarked Kaloustian. The club's success in its inaugural season has created a lot of interest throughout the United States. "We have been receiving resumes from all across the country," said Flash Director of Operations Jon Greene.

Players that are interested in the try-out should send their resume and a non-refundable $25 processing fee to the club at 1940 Garnet Ave, #207, San Diego, CA., 92109. All resumes will be reviewed and the qualified applicants will be contacted and given an invitation pass number. The Flash Stadium, on the campus of San Diego Mesa College.
