Championship Boxing Returns to San Diego

Championship level boxing returns to San Diego's Sports Arena Friday night, September 4, at 730 p.m. with an 8-match program highlighted by the 10-round main event of ferocious Adam Casillas (12 straight knockouts and only one defeat) and the World Boxing Council Latin American Super-feather weight champion, Mexico's Ruben Rabanales. Promoted by Rex Lowery, the 8-bouts are:

1. 4 rounds -125 lbs- San Diego's Jennifer McCartney vs. Opponent to be named

2. 4 rounds -115 lbs- Stockton's Joe Garcia vs. Tucson's Jose A. Jimenez

3. 4 rounds -135 lbs- San Diego's Billy Johnson vs. Tucson's Jose Piri

4. 4 rounds -175- San Diego's Jonathon Young vs. Tucson's Carlos Mendez

5. 6 rounds -136 lbs- South Africa's Phineas Nhlengthewa vs. Mexico's Mario Antonio Ramos

6. 8 rounds -132 lbs- San Diego's Fred Neal vs. Opponent to be named

7. 10 rounds -115 lbs- Blythe's Isaias Zamudio vs. Mexico's Francisco Montiel

8. 10 rounds -132 lbs- San Diego's Adam Casillas (12-1) vs. Mexico's Luis Ruso Montez (Rabanales did not make weight and Montez was substituted.)

The main event between Adam Casillas and WBC Continental Champion Bruno Rabanales promises to bring a level of excitement to Sports Arena boxing that hasn't been seen in 25-years, since San Diegan Ken Norton defeated Muhamed Ali on a Saturday afternoon in 1973. Adam Casillas rocked the Southern California boxing world by knocking out his first twelve opponents. Mexico City's Ruben Rabanales reigns as WBC Champion of all countries south of the Rio Grande.
