Formerly known as, the San Diego County Council of Democratic Women. It was founded in 1955 by Verna King and other women activist who wanted to draw on the strength of women working in unison to get democrats elected in San Diego. These dedicated club members strove to educate women on party principles, walked neighborhood precincts held fundraisers and got Democrats elected to local, state and national offices. Also, the club had the first Democratic newsletter in San Diego County. Let the tradition carry on...Our club is the oldest chartered Democratic club in San Diego County. It’s time for women to present a spirit of unity! We must strive for women’s rights...and we can elect more women to public office by forming an alliance and acting as one strong voice.
