Governor Davis Names Santa Ana, CA Student to CSU Board of Trustees

Sacramento - Governor Gray Davis today announced the appointment of M. Alexander Lopez as a student member of the California State University Board of Trustees.

Mr. Lopez, 21, of Santa Ana, is a Junior pursuing a bachelor of science degree in business administration. As current President of Associated Students, California State University, Fullerton, Inc., Mr. Lopez is responsible for a $12 million budget, a seven member staff, representation of student issues to administration and appointments to Academic Senate, University Advisory Committee and Student Fees Advisory Committee.

He is also responsible for implementing the University Wide Alumni Mentor Program. Mr. Lopez has participated in the INROADS program since 2000 as a Management Intern at ADT Security Services. He was also founder and President of the Latino Business Student Association from 1999 to 2001.

The California State University is administered by a board designated as the Trustees of the California State University. Members do not receive a salary. This position does not require Senate confirmation.
