August 17, 2001 in conjunction with Hitmen Entertainment presents the Tropical Music Singing & Songwriting Contest in association with Hitmen Entertainment is presenting a talent search to give emerging artists the opportunity to perform in front of top music industry professionals. The "Tropical Music Singing & Songwriting" contest will take place at the Rumba Room, LA's premier Latin nightclub in the heart of City Walk in Universal City, CA. ( Singers and songwriters will be competing in the following music genres: Salsa, Merengue, Bachata, Cumbia, Bolero, Mambo, Son, Timba, Rumba, Cha Cha, Vallenato etc.

The Tropical Music Singing/Songwriting contest begins on Thursday, October 4th, 2001, and runs approximately 4-6 weeks. Artists will compete before a panel of professional judges working in the Latin music community. Many record labels have already confirmed attendance for this event. In addition, BMI will sponsor the "Best Original Song". Claudia Lozano, producer and host of the television program "Salsa Rhythm and Soul" will be hosting the event.
