ANNUAL SALARY RANGE: $89,007 - $113,799
The San Diego County Water Authority is seeking a Director of Public Affairs to plan, organize, direct and implement Authority-wide public affairs, intergovernmental relations, community and education outreach, and media relations programs and activities. This single, executive-level position reports directly to the General Manager and shares responsibility with other Authority executives and managers to enhance the Authority’s mission and to communicate the Authority’s awareness and sensitivity to the role it plays in the economic well-being and quality of life throughout its service area. Represents the Authority before the Board of Directors, member agencies, local, state and federal agencies and the media.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Requires substantial, progressively responsible experience which demonstrates the ability to manage the Public Affairs department and programs. The ideal candidate will possess effective problem-solving skills, is an excellent communicator and has a customer-service focus. A typical qualifying background includes a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with a major in Marketing, Public Relations, Communications, Public or Business Administration, Journalism or a closely related field; and at least ten (10) years of progressively responsible public affairs, public information, community outreach or intergovernmental relations experience, at least five (5) of which were in a management capacity. A Master’s degree is desirable, and experience in a governmental setting is preferred.
