"Ballet At Twilight'

Professional and advanced dancers from throughout the country can be seen performing. Petipa's masterpiece La Bayadere to Minkus' score in two FREE performances on August 19 and 20 presented by City Ballet. Audiences will be transported through a young warrior's dream as he seeks his beloved temple dancer among the Shades in the Kingdom of the Shades. Both outdoor performances begin at 6:15 pm at the Balboa Park Organ pavilion on August 19 and at the City Heights Urban Village, 3795 Fairmount Ave. on August 20. Concert at Oceanside

Alfredo Rolando Ortiz, Internationally acclaimed South American harp virtuoso, composer, lecturer, author and recording artist, returns to Oceanside for a third summer season. A mesmerizing harpist, Ortiz will perform Saturday, August 14, at 7 & 9 p.m. in the Civic Center Library Community Rooms adjacent to the library. Admission is $6.00.

Correo Aereo Concert

Bringing the spirit of Latin America and el Caribe to Oceanside Public Library, Correo Aereo will perform Saturday, August 14, at 7 & 9 p.m. in the Civic Center Library Community Rooks adjacent to the library. Admission is $6, please call 760-966-4104 for additional information.

Ansel Adams Family Festival Day

Ansel Adams & California Family Festival Day is an educational community event that offers something for everybody. The event will take place on Sunday, August 15, from noon - 5 p.m. at the California Center for the Arts, Escondido. Families will learn more about art and the environment with art-making activities such as rainforest rainsticks and mosaic animals sculptures.

Children will enjoy live animals, art demonstrations, storytelling theater, games and treasure hunts, children's gardening, recycling information, floral demonstrations, tours, hiking adventures, and much more. Concert of Dance and Music

The Samahan Filipino American Performing Arts and Education Center will celebrate their 25th Anniversary with a two-hour concert at the Lyceum Theater, Horton Plaza in August 20 at 8:00 p.m. & 21 at 2:00 & 8:00 p.m. The concert will include popular traditional dances and music from all over the Philippines. The program will have live accompaniment with the Rondalla lead by music director Frederick Embalsado. Reserved tickets are $15, 10 & 8. For more information please call 444-7528.

International Dance Festival

The performing Folk Dancers of Balboa Park will be presenting their 7th Annual International Dance Festival on Saturday, August 14th at 2 p.m. and Sunday, August 15th at 2 p.m. at the Casa del Prado Theater in Balboa Park. Festival `99 is a delightful two hour program of dances from around the world. Admission is free. For more information, call 479-8015.

Malcolm X

Southeastern Community Theatre the oldest community theater in San Diego will be presenting the West Coast Premiere of Malcolm X A One Man Play by Pulitzer prize winning playwright August Wilson. This acclaimed performance will bring together a celebrated director and actor, to the community of San Diego with a high caliber performance. Curtain time is 8:00 p.m. Friday, August 13, general admission is $15.00 per person. Saturday, August 14, at 3 p.m. All performances will be held at the Educational Cultural Complex, 4343 Ocean View Blvd.

Teddy Bear Show

Linda Mullins' renowned Teddy Bear, Doll and Antique Toy Show, continues to be one of this country's most extensive shows of its kind with a full complement of antique bear, doll and toy dealers, teddy bear artists, teddy bear making supplies, books, clothing and accessories. The show will be held at the Scottish Rite Center, 1895 Camino Del Rio South, San Diego, on Saturday, and Sunday, August 14 and 15. Regular admission is $5. For more information call (760) 434-7444.
