Watch the excitement of the US Coast Guard as they demonstrate a swimmer search and rescue operation and the Explosive ordinance personnel perform water drops from hovering helicopters at Imperial Beach's Portwood Pier Plaza. The 2nd Annual IB Navy Day takes place from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Other attractions include the US Navy Band concert, a SEAL equipment display, a SH-60 helicopter display, an underwater disposal unit exhibit, McGruff Crime Dog, Kid's ID kit and Face-painting from the US Marine Corps and much more. "Latin and Pops in The Park"
The National City Community Concert Band is presenting a free Concert in The Park for the public at Pepper Park located at 3400 Tidelands Ave., National City, Sunday. Aug. 12 at 7 p.m. This concert will combine songs from around the world for an unforgettable "summer vacation trip" of musical styles. The evening will conclude with a fireworks display. Legendary Organ Master
Jimmy Smith, legendary organ master is making his appearance at Del Mar Racetrack on August 15. He is both a virtuoso and a funk-loving composer. Dot Com Blues is Smith's brand-new recording, and his first for the Blue Thumb Records label. The album showcases Smith's trademark Hammond sounds along with contributions from special guests B.B. King, Etta James, Dr. John, Taj Mahal, and Keb Mo, among others.
Christian Community Theatre brings the final show of their season at the Mt. Helix Amphitheater in La Mesa from August 16 through September 1. The great musical hit by the authors of "My Fair Lady", Camelot tells of the glory, wonder, and pageantry of King Arthur's Knights of the Round Table. This legend is tale of a kingdom united by love and tormented by trust when Arthur's beloved queen falls in love with his trusted friend Sir Lancelot.
