Nowell+Associates, a leading San Diego based landscape design and planning firm announces a new grant program called DesignGrants to help jump-start worthwhile community improvements projects in San Diego County.
A new sports field, a children's playground, historic landscaping, a healing garden... how many organizations have ideas for wonderful projects to improve their communities.
Yet, many of these ideas fall by the way because there isn't enough seen money to translate the dreams into documented plans for presentation. Terrific projects languish for want of the ability to communicate the concept in a professional and visual manner to gain necessary funding. Meanwhile, numerous foundations, government agencies and individual philanthropists await with resources to bring these ideas to fruition, if a project can be demonstrated to be worthwhile.
Greg Nowell says, "Our objective with DesignGrants is to offer professional landscape design and planning services to help these projects get off to a good start. We look forward to the opportunity to lend out services back to the community which supports us."
The grants will be tailored to the specific needs of the organization's project, such as site planning, disabled accessibility, and landscape design, including preparation of the presentation exhibits and grant application packages needed to submit projects for construction funding.
An equal opportunity program, DesignGrants is inviting community groups, civic organizations, service groups, youth organizations and other not-for-profit groups to submit applications for projects needing such design services. The organization must be located in and serve San Diego County and have a concept for a viable project that can be accomplished in a reasonable period of time.
All concepts will be evaluated on urgency of community need, community benefit, and project feasibility. The program is being funded to a maximum of $20,000 in services in the current year.
