The Hewlett-Packard Company is requesting proposals from child care centers that wish to improve the use of computer technology in their operations.
The Hewlett-Packard Child Care Center Technology Initiative will provide 60 non-profit child care centers with technology and training to increase their organizational effectiveness.
Each grant recipient will be awarded a $5,000 equipment package that includes a computer, monitor, printer/copier/fax machine, digital camera, scanner and two printers.
Recipients also will get consulting services from technology experts who will help them get the most use out of the equipment. The consultants will also help child care sites install the computer hardware and will train personnel on using the technology.
Proposals for the HP grants are by June 1. Grant winners will be announced July 15. Child care centers can apply for the Child Care Center Technology Initiative grants through the HP Web site at http://webcenter.hp.com/grants/us/hservices /index.html or by calling 650-857-8955.
Hewlett-Packard is offering the child care technology grants in partnership with the David and Lucile Packard Foundation.
