CSUSM Students Celebrate the Life of Cesar Chavez

In accordance with California State University, San Marcos's mission statement of higher education through diversity, Movimiento Estudiantil Chicano de Aztlan (M.E.Ch.A), Associated Students, Inc., the Office of the President, Dr. Cesar T. Chavez, and Acapulcos Mexican Restaurant are sponsoring a day of celebration and educational activities.

The event is scheduled to be an all day celebration with speakers and performers.

Guest Speakers Include:

· Dr. Alexander Gonzalez, President of CSUSM

· Dolores Huerta, Secretary/Treasurer of United Farm Workers (UFW)

· Richard Ibarra, Cesar E. Chavez's son-in-law

· Sal Barajas, UFW Organizer

· Hector Muro, Mexicanos Unidos en Defensa del Pueblo

Performers Include:

· Ballet Folklorico Mixtlán of California State University, San Marcos

· Ballet Esperanza

· Native American Singers/ Drummers

· Aztec Dancers from San Diego State University

· ASI Early Learning Center

· El Sonido Del Pueblo

· Rappers from Fallbrook and Ivy High School

The event begins at 10:00 AM in the Cesar Chavez Plaza and will continue into the evening for a candle light vigil. Parking is $1.50 (quarters only).
